Bret Dillingham has particular experience in death penalty defense, including in-court jury selection, questionnaire development and analysis, death qualification voir dire training, focus groups, forensic social work assessments, mitigation development, venue research and post trial juror interviews.  He has been appointed in capital trials as a jury consultant expert in dozens of cases, including in the Federal Districts of Kansas, Eastern Missouri, Western Missouri, Middle District of Tennessee, Eastern and Western Districts of New York, District of Connecticut, as well as State Courts in NY, VA, KS, MO, LA, IN, AR and others.  Bret has also prepared reports and testified as an expert in post conviction and venue matters in State and Federal Court.  In addition to capital cases, Bret Dillingham Trial Consulting has assisted in non-capital murder trials, sex crime cases and other criminal matters.

Civil

Bret Dillingham works with both plaintiff and defense attorneys in preparing for civil litigation, with extensive experience in personal injury and wrongful death cases, medical malpractice litigation and cases involving trucks and transportation.  Other cases have involved commercial litigation, product liability, employment discrimination, patent infringement, defamation, police brutality and class action suits.  Whatever the issue of the particular case, Bret collaborates with the trial team to provide practical and effective assistance, which can include focus groups, mock trials, juror questionnaire creation and analysis, in-court jury selection, case theming and brainstorming, opening statement development, witness preparation and post-trial juror interviews.
